SACLG support to CNN Hero Ms Pushpa Basnet’s Butterfly Home

On 15th September, SACLG has supported Nepalese community’s philanthropic fundraising Event for CNN hero Ms Pushpa Basnet for her ‘Butterfly Home’.

The event held on Estonia Hall and hosted by Nepalese Association of Victoria (NAV) and non- residence Nepalese Association Victoria (NRNAV) in collaboration with South Asian community link group.

Pushpa Basnet is a social worker and the Founder/President of Early Childhood Development Center (ECDC) and Butterfly Home, a non-profit organizations, in Kathmandu, Nepal. Her organization works to strengthen the rights of children living behind bars with their incarcerated parents. She has been recognized for her efforts by national and international media and is a winner of CNN Heroes Award in 2012.IMG_4546

SACLG team was led by a team comprised of Parsuram Sharma-Liutal, Dr Sonia Singh, Ms Niru Tripathi, Mr Puneet Gulati , Ms preeti Daga and Ms Tanvi Mor. The team members  provided a $500 contribution for the project on behalf of the whole SACLG association.

SACLG involvement with such a project working with the Nepalese community is a testimony of the organization commitments to help community in needs and developing a strong linkages with the south asian organizations bilaterally.IMG_4547

 

Executive member of SACLG Dr Sonia spoke on behalf of SACLG president Dr. Raju Adhikari addressing the large mass. She empathised about SACLG’s objectives & motto and highlighted the previous projects of SACLG. she also thanked all the community member and mentioned that she was glad to be involved in this fundraiser. She also highlighted the collaboration of SACLG with NAV and NRNA Victoria in future events.
